We have no permanent committee. Traders and residents contribute time and/or money on a project by project basis. Our highest profile activity is our annual commitment to pay for and deliver the FESTIVAL OF ANGELS which attracts upwards of 10K visitors a year.

High profile events have led to fruitful, if less visible, collaborations. Some benefits have been; routing the BREADCRUMBS trail through The Quarter, the area being identified as The Quarter on the city map, and a successful community action against the siting of a 600 person drinking establishment within the area.

Nearly ten years of co-operation has brought us excellent neighbourly relations, a generally stable local economy, a high level of community safety and an assured hearing at most levels of the CITY OF YORK, our local authority.

As well as our existing commitments, some of our projects in plan for 2008 include the continuation of marketing our area, a neighbourhood recycling scheme, a street cafe throughout The Quarter, and the development of the occasional Latin Festival into an annual or biennial event. Read on...
